Artist Affiliate (Voice)

Dr. Scott Willis is an accomplished performer, stage director, and educator, active in opera, concert, and musical theatre repertoire. Performance highlights include baritone solo appearances with the Rome Symphony, Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, Southern Adventist University Orchestra, Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, and the Nashville Symphony, as well as roles such as Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana and John Sorel in The Consul with Opera Tennessee. He has also appeared at the Spoleto Festival USA in Mozart’s Organ Solo Mass and performed in works including Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Magnificat, and Bach’s B Minor Mass.
As a director, Dr. Willis has led productions ranging from opera to musical theatre, including Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Jury, Steve Martin and Edie Brickell’s Bright Star, Freedman and Lutvak’s A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and Strauss’s Die Fledermaus.
Dr. Willis holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Alabama, a Master of Music from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor of Music from Middle Tennessee State University. He is the Founder and Executive Director of Chattanooga Music Academy, Music Director at Northside Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga, and serves on the voice faculty and as Director of Opera at Berry College.
